Make sure to clean all surfaces carefully with alcohol before applying, apply when the temperature is 50º F or higher and wait as long as possible (overnight to 72 hours) before applying any weight to the mount. This happens to be the same type #5962 3M VHB tape used by dash cam manufacturers.

The best thing to do at this point would be to go to your local hardware or big box store and buy a roll of 3M VHB 'Extremely Strong' mounting tape to replace the existing tape.
